Tal Ronnen knows that everyone will love his vegan food simply because it is GOOD. The attitude here is so positive it's contagious. The food is thoughtful, decadent, rich and a bit fancy-pants to make. But that's the fun! Think, plan and enjoy.
The photos are beautiful, and interviews with other foodie folks are interesting and educational. (meet the guy who popularized quinoa in the US!) But it's always about the food - isn't it? Well, there are some wonderful recipes here that jump off the page, and some that look to become staples for my kitchen. For example: quinoa, avocado & sweet potato timbale, Vietnamese style tofu hero with Asian slaw, old bay tofu cakes, free form ravioli with tofu ricotta, rosemary pine nut brittle.....This is a chef's book, to be sure, but also a GREAT book for a new vegan or a doubting mother-in-law. Woo! Veganism Rules the World!
